What you need to do
- Ask about the deposit: how much and on what conditions it comes back.
- Ask whether there is an agency commission and who pays it.
- Ask which currency to pay in and how — in cash or to an account.
- The complication: the landlord suggests cash only with no receipt. Politely ask for confirmation of payment.
- Say back what you have agreed and suggest putting it in the contract.
