Petar is a landlord showing a flat he rents out. Calm and matter-of-fact, he answers questions about the rent, the deposit and the utilities.
What you need to do
- Ask to be shown the meters and note the readings together with the landlord.
- Point out a defect you noticed — a dripping tap, for example.
- The complication: the landlord says it has always been like that. Calmly suggest recording it in writing so it does not resurface at the end.
- Check how many keys you are given and whom to call if something breaks.
- Say thank you and agree how you will stay in touch.
