A full course — and a game on top of it

Lingomir is an app for learning Serbian on your own. Inside: an academically complete course from A0 to C2, the kind a serious language school runs, and a game layer the best apps have — a living city, characters with a memory, XP and streaks. Usually you have to pick one; here you do not.

An academic course

260 CEFR-graded topics from the alphabet to fluency: a lesson with explanations, a cheat sheet and exercises of nine kinds for every topic, a placement test at the start.

A living city

Dialogues with the residents of a virtual Novi Sad: the market, cafés, the bank, paperwork — just like real life. By text or by voice, with your mistakes reviewed.

Smart reviews

A 4,300-word dictionary with stress marks and spaced repetition: the app brings a word back exactly when you start forgetting it.

Gamified progress

XP, levels and ranks, streaks, daily quests, places on the map and a player leaderboard — so you study a little, but every day.

What makes it different

Why Lingomir

A full academic course, not a deck of flashcards

260 CEFR-graded topics from A0 to C2 — phonology, nouns, verbs, syntax, vocabulary, communication. Every topic has a lesson, a cheat sheet and exercises of nine kinds; 269 lessons and almost 14,000 exercises in all, each lesson academically reviewed. Most apps stop at A2 — exactly where real speech begins.

A game that does not dumb it down

The game layer sits on top of the full course instead of replacing it: a living city with 67 residents who have a character, a mood and a memory, XP and ranks, streaks, daily quests, places and a leaderboard. Motivation every day — with no discount on depth.

Serbian for living in Serbia, not for passing a test

The scenarios come from the real situations of moving here: opening a bank account, renting a flat, registering your address, booking a doctor, talking to the neighbours. 138 of them — each practised in a dialogue, not memorised from a table.

A city that answers back

The shopkeepers, doctors, clerks and neighbours of a virtual Novi Sad remember you and sometimes write first. Speak by text or by voice; after every line the AI reviews your mistakes and shows a better way to say it.

A dictionary that knows where the stress falls

4,300 words with stress marks, translations and Cyrillic forms, in 157 themed sets. Spaced repetition brings a word back exactly when you are about to forget it.

Honestly free, in the browser, on any device

Three lessons a week, dialogues, the dictionary and reviews — no card, no sign-up. Nothing to install: phone, tablet or laptop. Explanations are in Russian; the interface is in English and Russian, and lessons are being translated.

How it works

Start with a placement test — or from zero

Five minutes, and the course knows where you should begin. Already know a topic? Mark it and move on.

Lesson → exercises → cheat sheet

Every topic: an explanation, exercises until you are confident, and a cheat sheet you can come back to any time.

Make it stick in the city

Dialogues with the residents of Novi Sad, scheduled word reviews, daily quests and streaks — a little every day.

260topics, A0 to C2

Questions and answers

What is Lingomir?
An online app for learning Serbian on your own, built for Russian speakers and open to everyone. Inside: a full academic 260-topic course from A0 to C2 with cheat sheets and exercises, a dictionary with stress marks and spaced repetition, practice dialogues with the AI characters of a virtual Novi Sad, and gamified progress — XP, levels, streaks and quests. It runs in the browser at lingomir.com.
Is Lingomir a course or a game?
Both, and that is the point. The base is a full Serbian course of the kind a serious language school runs: 260 CEFR-graded topics, each with a lesson, a cheat sheet and exercises of nine kinds — almost 14,000 exercises in all. On top of it sits a game layer the best apps have: a living city with characters who remember you, XP, ranks, streaks and quests. Usually you have to choose between depth and motivation; here you do not.
Is Lingomir suitable for self-study?
Yes — that is what it is built for. A placement test picks the starting topic, the course leads through the topics in the right order, exercises are checked automatically, and speech is practised in dialogues with AI characters who review your mistakes. No tutor is needed; if you have one, Lingomir works well as daily practice between lessons.
Latin or Cyrillic?
Both. The course starts with the Latin script and teaches Cyrillic separately; the dictionary shows both spellings and the stress for every word. Serbia needs both: signs and menus are mostly Latin, documents and government offices are Cyrillic.
Can I learn for free?
Yes. The free tier gives you three new lessons a week, dialogues with the city residents within a basic daily allowance, the dictionary and smart reviews without limits, the city map and quests. No card and no sign-up — you can save your account later.
How much is Premium?
€7.99 a month or €54 a year — roughly 45% less. Depending on your region the price is shown in dinars or dollars (799 RSD / $8.99). Cancel any time in settings; Premium stays until the end of the paid period.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Lingomir runs in the browser on a phone, tablet or laptop; one account, one progress across every device. Native iOS and Android apps are planned.
What language are the explanations in?
Lessons and explanations are in Russian; the interface, support and legal documents are in English and Russian. The English edition of the lessons is being translated step by step.
What level can I start from?
Any. The course starts at A0 — the alphabet, Latin and Cyrillic, the first sounds — and goes up to C2. A five-minute placement test picks your starting topic; topics you already know can be marked and skipped.
How do the character dialogues work?
The characters are residents of a virtual Novi Sad with a personality, a mood and a memory of your past conversations. You write or speak in Serbian, the character answers like a real person, and after each line the AI reviews your mistakes. Dialogues are processed by an AI provider (OpenAI); staff do not read them, and the data is never sold or used for advertising.
How do I cancel or get a refund?
Cancel in Profile → Subscription in one click; Premium remains until the end of the paid period. Refunds follow the Refund & Cancellation Policy: EU consumers have a 14-day withdrawal right, and billing errors are always put right.
