Lingomir for teachers

How to work in your teacher’s cabinet

A guide to everything the cabinet has today, from your first class to a published review. Buttons and sections are named exactly as in the app.

Getting started

Your teacher’s cabinet opens in the same Lingomir account as your own learning. Open it once, then simply switch.

Open a cabinet

  1. Press “Open a cabinet” on the Lingomir for teachers page and sign in to your account or create a new one.
  2. Under “How do you work?”, choose “I teach on my own” or “An online school”.
  3. Name the cabinet: students see the name in invitations and letters. For a personal cabinet, your own name will do.
  4. Check “Time zone” and “Language of letters”, then press “Open the cabinet”.
  5. On “Today”, press “Create a class”, then invite your students and plan a lesson.

Good to know

  • It is the same account: your learning, Premium and history stay with you.
  • An account has one personal cabinet. You can make it a school later; classes and students stay.
  • We open cabinets for a network of schools together with you: write to us.
  • A guest account has to be saved first: a cabinet is entered by email.
  • If you see “Cabinets open by invitation for now”, we are opening the platform step by step. Write to us.

Places and “Where to today?”

  • If your account has several places (your learning, a cabinet, classes), Lingomir asks “Where to today?” after you sign in and remembers your choice.
  • Switch in the avatar menu, under “Learning” and “Working”. Inside a cabinet, its name at the top does the same.
  • “My learning” takes you to your own Lingomir: the course, your words and Vesna.

On a computer, the cabinet’s sections are on the left: “Today”, “Schedule”, “Classes”, “Students”, “Reviews”, “Messages”, “Lessons & materials”, and below them “My teacher page” and “Settings”. On a phone, “Today”, “Schedule”, “Reviews” and “Messages” are at the bottom, and the rest is under “More”. “Today” shows your next lesson, reviews to check and new messages.

My teacher page and the “Verified” badge

“My teacher page” holds your name, photo and a few words on how you teach. Students and colleagues see your name and photo in classes, chats and letters.

Fill it in

  1. Open “My teacher page” (on a phone, through “More”).
  2. Under “Who you are”, add a photo, your first and last name, “In one line” and “About you”.
  3. Under “Teaching”, fill in “I teach”, “Years of teaching” and “Languages I speak”.
  4. Under “Contacts for the check”, add your phone with + and the country code and, if you like, links under “Where else you can be found”. Students do not see your phone.
  5. Press “Save”.

Get the “Verified” badge

  1. Confirm your email. If the letter has not come, press “Send the letter again”.
  2. Add a phone or a link where you can be found. A photo is not required, but it helps.
  3. Press “Ask for the check”. The Lingomir team usually answers within two working days, by letter.
  4. If the check did not pass, add what is missing and press “Ask again”.

Your phone through Telegram

  • The “Phone confirmed” step is optional: Telegram shows the team the number is yours.
  • Press “Confirm in Telegram”. In the Lingomir bot, press “Start” if it is your first time, then “Share my number”. There is nothing to type.
  • If your profile has a different number, the bot asks whether to use the one from Telegram or keep the old one.

Changing your name, phone or links after the check removes the “Verified” badge. Ask for the check again.

Classes

A class holds its lessons, students, materials, chat and reviews. It can be for one student or for a group.

Create a class

  1. Open “Classes” and press “New class”.
  2. Choose the “Format” and give the class a name.
  3. Set the level and the lesson length, and for a group the number of seats. An empty “Seats” field means no limit.
  4. For a course, set the “Course dates”: start and end.
  5. Press “Create class”.

Formats

  • “One-to-one”: one student, the two of you.
  • “Group”: several students, regular lessons, a shared chat.
  • “Course”: a group with a start and an end date.
  • “Open group”: students come and go, seats are limited.

Inside a class

  • A class has four tabs: “Lessons”, “Students”, “Materials” and “Chat”.
  • Change the name, level, seats or colour in “Class actions” → “Class settings”.
  • A class can have several teachers and assistants. Add a colleague as a teacher in “Settings” → “Team” → “Give a class”, or as an assistant when you invite them to the team.

The archive

  • “Move to the archive” cancels every lesson ahead, and students are told. Past lessons, reviews and the chat stay; the chat becomes read-only.
  • “Bring back from the archive” makes the class active again. Cancelled lessons stay cancelled: plan new ones.
  • Archived classes are under “Classes” → “Archive”.

Students and invitations

Students join a class by invitation, by email or by a link. There is nothing to install: it all works in the browser.

Invite students

  1. Open the class, go to the “Students” tab and press “Invite”.
  2. Choose “Email”: type the addresses separated by commas or new lines, choose the “Language of the letter”, add “A line from you” if you like, and press “Send the invitation”.
  3. Or choose “Link”: press “Make a link”, then “Copy the link”, and send it in any messenger.

How a student comes in

  • By email: the student types their name, accepts the terms and presses “Enter the class”. No password is needed: the letter is the key.
  • By link: someone already signed in to Lingomir goes straight into the class. Someone without an account creates one on the way.
  • An email invitation works for 14 days, a link for 30 days. A class has one link; “New link” switches the old one off.
  • Later the student signs in without a password: the sign-in screen has “Sign in with a link by email”.

Student actions

  • “Put on a break”: the seat is freed and reminders stop; the student still sees the class’s history. “Back from the break” takes a seat again, if there is one.
  • “Remove from the class”: the student no longer sees the class’s lessons, chat or materials. Published reviews stay with them.
  • “Add a note”: goals and what to keep in mind. Only you and your colleagues see it.
  • Invitations not yet accepted are under “Invitations” on the “Students” tab: you can “Send the letter again” or “Withdraw” them.

The “Students” section

  • Every student of the cabinet, “Learning” and “Former”, with a search by name, email or class.
  • A student’s card shows their next lesson, classes, latest reviews and a “Send a message” button.
  • “Invite” here asks first which class to invite to.

Schedule

One-off and recurring lessons, moving, cancelling and substitutes. Students see the lessons, the topic and the plan in their own schedule.

Plan a lesson

  1. Press “Plan a lesson” in “Schedule” or on “Today”. On a computer you can also press an empty spot in the week grid.
  2. Choose the class, the date and the start time. The time is set in the class’s time zone; students see it in their own.
  3. Under “Repeat”, choose “Once”, “Weekly” (and the days) or “Daily”.
  4. For a series, choose when it “Ends”: “Never”, “After a number of lessons” or “On a date”.
  5. Fill in “Topic” and “What you’ll do”, then press “Plan the lesson”.

Moving, cancelling, a substitute

  • All three are in “Lesson actions” on the lesson page.
  • “Move”: a new date, time or length. For a series, choose “Only this one” or “This and the following”.
  • “Cancel the lesson”: this one, or this and all that follow. Write the reason in “A word for the students”; they see it in their schedule.
  • “A substitute teacher”: a colleague leads this one lesson and can see its review for a week. “Back to the class’s teacher” undoes it.

Who came

  • The call marks attendance by itself, under “Who came” on the lesson page.
  • “Late” means the person joined more than 10 minutes after the start or spent less than three quarters of the lesson in the call.
  • Correct a mark by hand: “Present”, “Late”, “Absent” or “Excused”. The call never overwrites a mark you set.

Reminders and your calendar

  • Everyone in a lesson gets reminders a day and an hour before: a push, and a letter as well for the day-before one. If Telegram is connected, there too.
  • If a lesson in the coming week is moved or cancelled, students get a push and a Telegram message straight away.
  • In “Schedule” → “In your phone’s calendar”, press “Get the link” and add it to Apple, Google or Outlook calendar as a subscription. Cancelled lessons are marked there.
  • The calendar only shows your lessons: changes made in it do not come back to Lingomir. “New link” switches the old one off.

A series that never ends is planned 16 weeks ahead and keeps coming until you stop it. You can plan up to 400 days ahead, and Lingomir warns you if a time clashes with another of your lessons. Online booking of free slots by students is not there yet.

The call

A lesson takes place in a Lingomir call in the browser, on a computer or a phone. The lesson, the board and the hints are in the same window.

Enter

  1. Press “Enter the class” on “Today” or on the lesson page.
  2. Check yourself in the preview and pick the “Microphone” and “Camera” if you have several.
  3. Say whether your voice may be transcribed: “Yes, transcribe me” or “Without transcription”.
  4. Press “Enter”.

Good to know

  • A teacher can enter an hour before the start, students 15 minutes before.
  • If the browser did not allow the microphone or camera, allow them in the address bar and reload the page. You can also enter just to listen.
  • If the connection drops, the call reconnects by itself; if it cannot, press “Reconnect”. If there is no sound, press “Turn the sound on”.

Transcription

  • Everyone decides for themselves. A student sees “A review of this lesson?” and answers “Yes, I want a review” or “Without transcription”.
  • “Remember for this class’s next lessons” is on by default: next time the answer is already set, and you can “Change” it.
  • While your voice is transcribed, the call shows “Transcription on”. “Stop recording” turns it off at once; “Allow transcription” turns it back on.

Finish

  • “End” → “End for everyone”: the call closes for everyone and the reviews start being drafted.
  • “Just leave”: the lesson goes on, and “Enter again” brings you back.
  • A student leaves with “Leave”.

If video calls are not available, the call shows “Video calls are coming soon”. The lesson and the board still work, so talk where you usually do; attendance is taken from who opened the call, and reviews are written by hand. Reviews of lessons held in Zoom or Meet are not possible yet.

The lesson and the board in the call

Prepare a plan beforehand, then open its blocks in the call: a task appears for everyone, and you see the students’ answers straight away.

Prepare the plan

  1. On the lesson page, press “Prepare” on the “Lesson plan” card.
  2. Under “From the Lingomir course”, choose a lesson and press “Add its exercises”. Take out any you do not need.
  3. Press “Add a block” to write an explanation: a text, a rule or tip, a table, a dialogue, words.
  4. Put the blocks in order. You can press “Enter the call” from here too.

The shared lesson

  • Press “Open the first block”: the task or explanation appears for everyone. “Next” opens the next block.
  • “Answers” shows what each student is typing and how it was graded: “correct”, “nearly”, “wrong” or “for you to read”.
  • “Together”: students see what you opened. “Free”: each student moves through the tasks on their own.
  • “Hint” puts your short hint under the task; “Show the answer” shows the answer to everyone.
  • The timer button starts a two-minute countdown for everyone.

The board

  • Switch between “Lesson” and “Board”. In “Together”, the students switch with you.
  • The board’s pages are at the top, “Board 1”, “Board 2”; the plus beside them adds a new one.
  • At the bottom are “Serbian letters” (č, ć, š, ž, đ, dž, lj, nj) for text on the board and “Words of the lesson”: a word lands on the board as a sticky note.
  • Everyone can write on the board. “Lock the board” keeps it to you: students watch and see what you see.
  • A student who has wandered off comes back to your view with “To the teacher”.

Hints during the lesson

  • While transcription is on, Lingomir notices slips and missing words and shows them under “Hints”: “Idea”, “Slip” or “Word”.
  • Only the teacher and the assistant see the hints. Remove one you do not need with “Dismiss”.

After the lesson, the board and the students’ answers are kept in the review. Tasks a student got wrong or nearly right come back to them as exercises.

Reviews

After a lesson, every student who was in the call gets their own review: the record, a mini-lesson on their mistakes, exercises and materials. You check the draft and publish it.

When the draft comes

  • Once the call has ended and the transcript is ready, the AI writes a draft. You get a push, and the review appears in “Reviews” → “To check”.
  • The draft is written in the language the student reads Lingomir in: English or Russian. Serbian is always in Latin script.
  • The AI review is for lessons of Serbian for now. Classes, the schedule, calls and chats work for any language.
  • If the student did not agree to the transcript or hardly spoke, the review comes blank with the reason, and you write it.

What a review is made of

  • “Record”: the conversation line by line. Tap a line to hear it; there are “Find in the record” and “Only the student”.
  • “Marks”: mistakes, new words, “Said well” and notes found by the AI. Answer “Yes, keep it” or “No, leave it out”; add your own with “+ Mark” or “Mark this line”.
  • “In the lesson”, on the same tab: the student’s answers in the call and the lesson’s board.
  • “Mini-lesson”: “In short” and blocks on the mistakes, rules, tables, words. A mistake’s block follows its mark.
  • “Exercises”: from the mistakes, from the lesson, words and phrases, speaking. Remove the ones you do not want and change the order.
  • “Materials”: press “Add from the class” and say why.

Publish

  1. Check the marks and “In short”, and edit the mini-lesson’s blocks.
  2. Press “Preview” to see the review as the student will.
  3. Press “Publish”. The student gets a notification and a letter; the words go to their “My words”, the mistakes to Vesna.

When you need something else

  • AI marks you left unanswered go into the review as they are.
  • “Write by hand” is on the lesson page, beside a student with no review.
  • “Write again with AI” in “Review actions” drafts it afresh from the record; your edits are lost.
  • “Take back”: the student no longer sees the review, but what it already gave them, words and mistakes, stays theirs.
  • A review with Russian text cannot be published to a student who reads Lingomir in English: translate it first.

Each student has a number of AI review hours a month, usually 12, and the cabinet has a monthly AI budget. When either runs out, the review comes blank and you write it by hand; the lesson itself is not affected.

Lessons and materials

Materials live in classes: your files, links and notes sit beside Lingomir lessons, word sets and videos.

Add a material

  1. Open the class, go to the “Materials” tab and press “Add material”.
  2. Choose the kind: “Lingomir lesson”, “Word set”, “Clip or text”, “File”, “Link” or “Note”.
  3. Find the lesson, set or clip in the list, choose a file, or paste an address starting with https://.
  4. Add “A line for the students” and check the “Open to students” switch.
  5. Save the material.

The Lingomir course

  • “Lessons & materials” → “Lingomir course” has the whole course: “Lessons”, “Word sets”, “Clips and texts”, with a level filter.
  • Open a lesson to see it as a student does, or press “To a class”.
  • A Lingomir lesson, set or clip you gave a class or a review is open to its students, even without a subscription of their own.
  • “Class materials”: pick a class to see its materials below.

Who sees what

  • “Open to students” is on by default. Turn it off and only you see the material.
  • A material hidden in the class but added to a review is seen by the student through that review.
  • “Material actions” lets you “Open it to students”, “Hide it from students”, change the order, edit or delete. A deleted material disappears from reviews too.
  • Files up to 20 MB, pictures up to 3 MB.

There is no AI lesson builder yet: a lesson plan is put together from the course’s exercises and your own blocks.

Messages

Every class has its own chat, and you can write to a student or a colleague in private.

The class chat

  • The chat is on the class’s “Chat” tab; all class chats are gathered in “Messages” → “Class chats”.
  • A message can carry up to six attachments: pictures, documents and a voice message. Private messages can too.
  • The chat of an archived class is read-only.

Write in private

  1. Open “Messages” and press “Write”.
  2. Find the person by name, email or class.
  3. Write your message. You can also write to a student from their card, with “Send a message”.

You can write in private to the students of your classes and to colleagues in your cabinet. Unread messages show on “Today” under “New messages”.

Team and settings

“Settings” holds the cabinet’s name and time zone, the team, invitations to colleagues, and handing over or closing the cabinet.

Organisation

  • “Time zone”: new classes and lessons are planned in it.
  • “Language of letters”: invitations and reminders go out in it to anyone who has not chosen their own.
  • “Make it a school” turns a personal cabinet into a school: classes, students and the schedule stay. A school cannot become a personal cabinet again.

Invite a colleague

  1. Open “Settings” → “Team” and press “Invite”.
  2. Type their email and choose a role: “Staff”, “Methodologist” or “Administrator”.
  3. Tick the classes they will teach “As a teacher” or “As an assistant”, and choose the letter’s language.
  4. Press “Send the invitation”. Your colleague accepts it from the letter, signed in with the same email.

Roles

  • “Owner” answers for the cabinet and may hand it over or close it.
  • “Administrator” runs the cabinet: classes, team and settings.
  • “Methodologist” sees every class and review and helps with the materials.
  • “Staff” teaches the classes you give them, “As a teacher” or “As an assistant”.
  • “Assistant” helps in lessons and drafts reviews, but the teacher publishes them.

People and the cabinet

  • Beside a colleague in “Team”: “Make an administrator”, “Give a class”, “Remove from the team”. “Invitations” shows those who have not joined yet.
  • “Hand over” gives the cabinet to one of its administrators, who has 7 days to press “Become the owner”. Make a personal cabinet a school first.
  • “Close the cabinet”: every lesson ahead is cancelled, and students and the team lose access. Type the cabinet’s name to confirm.
  • While you own a cabinet with other people in it, your Lingomir account cannot be deleted: hand the cabinet over or close it first.

Reminders in Telegram

The Lingomir bot in Telegram sends lesson reminders, and tells students when a lesson is moved or cancelled. Teachers also confirm their phone through it.

Connect

  1. Find the “Reminders in Telegram” card in “Schedule”. A student finds it in their class, on the “Lessons” tab.
  2. Press “Connect Telegram”: the Lingomir bot opens.
  3. Press “Start” in Telegram. The link works for 15 minutes; if it has expired, press “Connect Telegram” again.

What comes

  • Reminders a day and an hour before each lesson, with an “Open in Lingomir” button.
  • Students get a message straight away if a lesson in the coming week is moved or cancelled.
  • The bot writes in the language of your Lingomir interface.

If something is wrong

  • If the bot is blocked, the card shows “The bot is stopped in Telegram”. Press “Open the bot”, then “Restart” in Telegram.
  • One Telegram account connects to one Lingomir account. Connect it to another account, and the first account’s reminders no longer come there.
  • Disconnect with “Disconnect” on the card or with /stop in the bot.
  • Other bot commands: /phone confirms a teacher’s phone, /help shows a short guide.

If there is no “Reminders in Telegram” card, Telegram is not connected to Lingomir yet. Reminders still come as a push and by email.

Recording and data

We record voices only, and only of those who agreed. Here is what is kept, for how long, and who sees it.

What is recorded

  • Sound only: video is never recorded.
  • Only the voices of those who agreed, and only while they agree. Anyone can stop at any time with “Stop recording”.
  • The transcript and the drafts are made by AI (our provider is OpenAI). Participants’ names are not sent to it.
  • If a student says no, the lesson goes on just the same, and you write their review by hand.

How long it is kept

  • Voices: 30 days after the lesson, then deleted.
  • The transcript text and reviews: as long as the class exists in the cabinet.
  • A published review stays with the student after they leave the class. The words in “My words” and the mistakes for Vesna are theirs too.

Who sees it

  • Voices and transcripts: the class’s teachers and assistants. Every access to a recording is logged.
  • The cabinet’s owner and administrators do not hear the voices or read the transcripts.
  • In their review, a student sees their own lines and the teachers’, never another student’s.

The cabinet’s data is kept on servers in Germany. A student can ask to see, correct or delete their recordings: they ask their teacher or school, or write to us.

What your students see

Students install nothing: the class opens in their Lingomir account, in the browser on a phone or a computer.

The student’s class

  • After joining by invitation, the student lands in the class. Later the class opens from the avatar menu, under “Learning”.
  • The class has four tabs: “Lessons”, “Tasks”, “Chat”, “Materials”.
  • “Lessons” shows the next lesson in the student’s own time, with its topic and plan, and the history of past ones.

The lesson

  • “Enter the lesson” works from 15 minutes before the start.
  • Before entering, the student decides whether they want a review: “Yes, I want a review” or “Without transcription”.
  • In the call they answer tasks right on the screen, and in “Free” they move through them on their own.

After the lesson

  • The review arrives once you publish it, with a notification and a letter.
  • A review has “Record”, “Lesson”, “Tasks” and “Materials”. The tasks also wait on the class’s “Tasks” tab.
  • New words are already in their “My words”, and the mistakes go to Vesna, the Lingomir AI teacher, who helps them practise.
  • If the student reads Lingomir in English and the review is in Russian, they see “This review is not in English yet”.

Lingomir lessons, sets and clips you gave a class or a review are open to the student without Premium. The rest of Lingomir follows their own plan.
