Lesson recording and transcription

Before you enter a lesson in Lingomir, we ask whether your voice may be transcribed. This page explains what you agree to if you say yes. It is short on purpose; the details are in the Privacy Policy and, for your school or teacher, in the Data Processing Agreement.
What happens if you agree
- Your voice is recorded and turned into text during the lesson, so that your teacher can prepare your review: your phrases and how to say them better, a short lesson on what came up, personal exercises.
- Only voices are recorded, never video. Only the voices of the people who agreed are recorded, and only while they agree.
- The text is made by speech recognition and draft marks are proposed by artificial intelligence (our provider is OpenAI). Your name is not sent to it. Your teacher checks the review before you see it.
Who hears and reads it
- You — your own lines and the teachers' in your review, and your voice while it is kept.
- The teachers and assistants of your class.
- Not the owner or administrators of the school, and not other students: in a group, other students never see your lines.
How long it is kept
- Your voice: 30 days after the lesson, then deleted. For a lesson recorded outside the Platform (a meeting bot or an uploaded recording): 7 days after the recording at most.
- The text and your review: as long as your class exists at your school. A review published for you stays in your Lingomir account; the new words it adds to «My words» and the mistakes it adds to your AI teacher's journal are yours and stay with you.
Your choice
- You can say no. The lesson goes on exactly the same; your teacher writes your review by hand.
- You can ask us to remember your answer for this class; we still note it for each lesson.
- You can change your mind at any time — in the call, with «Stop recording». It works at once: nothing more of your voice is recorded from that moment. What was recorded before stays as described above unless you ask for it to be deleted.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your recordings and transcripts. Ask your teacher or school first — they decide about your class's data — or write to us at support@lingomir.com and we will pass your request on and help.
